The Company
Since the late 1970's, people have referred to The Special Event as Sonoma County's "best kept secret in party rentals". Be it a trade show, corporate event, fundraiser, or a wedding of your dreams, The Special Event is your one stop source for quality rental equipment at a price that fits every budget. We offer you expert planning and effective follow through by creating just the right environment for all your needs through a staff that is fully trained and knowledgeable. In our experience, this can only be achieved from a family owned and operated business.
Our History
Started by three brothers, The Special Event stemmed from an already existing equipment rental and sales business they established in 1973 known as Aaction Rents and Equipment. By the late 70's the brothers; Mark, Paul, and John Grill, saw a high demand for party rentals in Sonoma County as the county grew. They started by renting party supplies out of their Windsor location. As both sides of the company continued to grow, it was decided in 1996 to relocate the party rental company to its new and current location in Healdsburg. Once in Healdsburg, The Special Event was recognized independently of the original equipment business.
